Keeping Your Home Show-Ready With Kids and Pets
MIL-Estate Network is 100% Veteran or Military Spouse Realtors. We have over 160 agents nationwide so we can help you anywhere!
Let’s be real—keeping your home spotless while it’s on the market is hard enough. Add kids, pets, and the chaos of a PCS move, and it can feel downright impossible. But staging your home well is a major factor in how quickly it sells (and for how much). So how do military families pull it off while juggling everything else?
Declutter Daily (Even If It’s Just 10 Minutes)
Create a system. Have a bin or basket in each room for quick clean-ups. Get the kids involved with a game: “Let’s pick up 10 things before dinner!” It adds up.
Create a “Go Bag” for Pets and Kids
Have a grab-and-go kit ready with toys, snacks, leashes, and litter bags. When a showing gets scheduled last-minute, you can scoop everyone up and get out fast—without scrambling.
Use Storage Bins and Ottomans With Hidden Space
You don’t need to hide everything in closets. Invest in a few attractive storage bins or ottomans where toys, dog bowls, or blankets can quickly disappear before a showing.
Clean in Zones and Set a Routine
Instead of stressing over the whole house every day, clean one “zone” per night. Kitchen on Monday, bathrooms on Tuesday, etc. This makes the job feel manageable.
Remember: buyers aren’t expecting perfection—but a clean, inviting home sells faster. And your MIL-Estate agent can guide you through every step.
